Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NADP) is a biomolecule composed of two nucleotide molecules linked by a phosphodiester bond. It has important biochemical functions in organisms, especially in redox reactions and energy metabolism.
NADP is a phosphorylated derivative of NAD (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), which differs from NAD in that it has an additional phosphate group. NADP acts as a redox mediator in cellular metabolism and participates in many key metabolic pathways, such as glycolysis, fatty acid synthesis, and nucleic acid synthesis. In addition, NADP is also involved in many antioxidant reactions, such as the reaction of glutathione reductase, one of the important molecules to maintain redox balance in cells.
